Dialog on the back of the tatami

Words are a common communication tool for the whole word.
The concept of this hostel is an intercultural exchange with words.
On the first floor, visitors can meet each other at the communication lounge covered with tatami.
This tatami helps communication as a wall except at breakfast time.
From the trendy words and the dialects in various languages written on the back on the tatami, we can learn foreign cultures as well as our own culture.
The three-story atrium, arranged from the ancient Japan stroll garden, clearly separates public and private space.

If the foreign people ask you the meaning of the dialect or trendy word in your country’s language, you would examine it and tell them the meaning.

That helps to learn the culture of your own country.

Also, you can learn foreign culture by asking foreigners the meaning of the dialect or trendy words in the foreign language.

Proposed effect
Youth hostel (YH) is a low-priced accommodation and the guests can have relations with each other. It has a role to promote youth travel around the world. However, it is declining in current Japan because the price is not so low compared with business hotels and many Japanese don't like to share a room with strangers.
In other words, there is no difference between a business hostel and a youth hostel.
In this paper, we will propose a way of modernizing the youth hostel.
First, by separating the public and private space into three layers, clearly separating private and public space, and areas of small and large interaction.
In addition, providing a stairwell to the second and third layers, separating the corridor and courtyard, top and bottom and loosely connected space.
Thereby, from the private floor it is possible to see the public floor, conversely it is difficult to do the opposite.
Using language as a system of interaction is different for specific countries but a common interaction tool.
One can look at the language on the mat of the public space and know the language of that country.
It is better to understand the language of other countries through the language of those countries.
The language will be updated by users.
The reason for choosing language is that through actually cross-culturally interesting with people, one can become more familiar with other cultures.
Also, even amongst Japanese, people can be encouraged to exchange forgotten buzzwords and dialects.
The public space at night can be a place for exchange through words.
In the morning, the tatami can be flipped to become a breakfast area.
By doing so, there can be an effective use of space according to times of day.
It can also help separate the first floor public space and large room.
In this way, a youth hostel that can use its space as a place where the differences and similarities between modern Japanese and non-Japanese can be freely exchanged will be born.
